our farm

We are Three Dots Farm, a small-scale, queer-owned farm on leased land in Suquamish, WA. We are growing on less than one acre of land. We strive to work with the land and use sustainable practices to build soil health and bring delicious vegetables to our community.

growing practices

We are deeply committed to stewarding the land we farm on, drawing upon a blend of agroecology, regenerative agriculture, and indigenous wisdom and science to inform our farming practices.

As much as we produce vegetables, we are really focusing on building soil health. By employing low-till methods and deep composting we are working to minimize soil disturbance while planting and during harvests and prioritizing natural pest management techniques over herbicides and pesticides. Through intentional crop rotations, diverse plantings, and physical barriers like row covers and insect netting, we mitigate pest pressure and disease without resorting to synthetic chemical treatments.

All farm work is done by hand, utilizing specialized tools such as the jang seeder and paperpot transplanter. Our commitment to sustainability extends beyond USDA organic standards, as we focus on fostering healthy ecosystems that yield not only delicious produce but also support thriving mycelial networks, sequester carbon, minimize food waste, and provide vital habitat for pollinators and wildlife.

We are actively learning more about how to be better land stewards. Each season we want to work towards more ecological farming systems like living pathways or interplanting and cover cropping more efficiently. We want to minimize our reliance on adding amendments or nutrients from of the farm and grow in such a way that the soil is continually replenished.

Let us know if you have any questions about our growing practices, please don't hesitate to reach out – we're always eager to share our passion for plants and farming!

so why three dots?

We chose three dots farm because we liked the potential that those three dots provided. From a grammatical sense, you see the ellipses but they also represent a pause or things unsaid or yet to come or a passing of time. And somehow each of these things seemed to fit into this small farming business we are trying to build.

One of the best things about farming is truly being in the seasons and bearing witness to time passing throughout the year. For us, these three dots represent that movement of time in the same space as providing a pause to take a deep breath in and appreciate the moment you’re in!

Thanks for following along on our journey as we see what happens next on the farm!
